Why AquaHaus
Every serious reef keeper knows the drill: you need a handful of frag plugs or a mounting disc, and the only options are a slow, expensive import or a generic batch from a local fish shop that doesn't quite fit your setup. There wasn't a South African source built specifically for this hobby — so we built one.
AquaHaus designs and 3D prints reef hardware to order: frag plugs, travel holders, mounting discs, and accessories, printed here in South Africa and shipped in days rather than weeks. No shipping container to wait on, no import duties baked into the price, and no minimum order of a thousand identical plugs.
The person behind it
AquaHaus is run by one person — developer by trade, reef keeper by obsession. That means the same person who designs the parts, runs the printers, packs the orders, and answers your emails also keeps a reef tank at home and understands exactly what a frag plug needs to survive being epoxied, dunked, and occasionally knocked by an overenthusiastic clownfish.
AquaHaus trades under DobixHub (Pty) Ltd (Reg. 2026/442847/07), a registered South African company.
How it's made
Every piece is FDM 3D printed in PETG — a material widely used across the reef-keeping hobby for its durability and inert behaviour once cured. Nothing sits in a warehouse as finished stock; each order is printed after you place it, which means less waste, faster iteration on new designs, and the flexibility to tweak a shape based on what the reefing community actually asks for.
Because everything is made to order in small batches on desktop printers rather than injection-moulded by the pallet, AquaHaus won't always be the cheapest option on the shelf. The trade-off is hardware designed by someone who actually uses it, made close to home, without the six-week wait.
Where we're headed
The current range covers frag plugs, travel holders, and mounting accessories, with frag racks (custom EC-FRAME builds) coming in a later phase. As the range grows, the goal stays the same: useful, well-made reef hardware, designed with the local hobby in mind, not repackaged for it.
